He was predeceased by: his parents, Ward McNeil McLaughlin, Sr. and Wilda McLaughlin Stargell; his sister Ellen Mitchell (Bud); his siblings-in-law, Jean Smith and Bill Raney; his sibling's children, Hugh Mitchell, Jay Smith, Steve Smith and Kierstan Raney; and his wife Darlene.
He is survived by: his daughters, Gail Megahan (Renny Megahan) and Sandra McLaughlin (Myron Ripley); his sister-in-law Berna Raney; his grandson Carter Megahan; and his sibling's children, Cary Hevener, Gary Smith of Pendleton County, WV and Greg Smith of Pendleton County, WV.
Visitation was held on Sunday, September 14th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Hill and Wood Funeral Home - Charlottesville Chapel (201 1st St S, Charlottesville, VA 22902). A funeral service was held on Monday, September 15th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the First United Methodist Church (101 E Jefferson St, Charlottesville, VA 22902). A graveside service was held on Monday, September 15th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Sugar Grove Cemetery. A burial was held on Monday, September 15th 2025 at 4:00 PM at the same location.
