She was predeceased by: her parents, Floyd Keene and Fannie Keene; her husband James Thomas Smithson; her siblings, Jessie Keene, Floyd Keene, Jr. and Margaret White; and her daughter-in-law Sharon Lorraine Dodd.
She is survived by: her children, Vanessa Haskins (Keith) of Chase City, VA, Marvin Dodd (Christy) of Chase City, VA and Lamont Dodd of Chase City, VA; and her sister Brenda Downey (Arthur) of Clarksville, VA. She is also survived by five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Viewing was held on Sunday, September 14th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. A funeral service was held on Monday, September 15th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home (1304 N Main St, Chase City, VA 23924).
