He was predeceased by: his parents, John Albert "Buster" Averette and Florence Newton Averette; his wife Barbara Duffer Averette; and his brother Wayne Averette. He is survived by: his children, Gina Mull (Scott) and Mark Averette (Elaine); his grandsons, Chase Averette (Shelby) and Cody Mull (Megan); and his great grandchildren, Grayson, McKinley, Layla Mull, Chloe and Riley Averette. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 27th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home (821 W 2nd St, Chase City, VA 23924). A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 28th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the New Hope Baptist Church (2526 New Hope Rd, Skipwith, VA 23968).
