He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Thomas and Katie Belle Wrenn Gwaltney; and his son Alan Craig Gwaltney. He is survived by: his wife Betty Jo Slate Gwaltney; his children, Mark Slate Gwaltney (Amanda) of Buxton, NC and Sara Gwaltney Twiford; his granddaughters, Wrenn Layden and Charley Claire Twiford of Chesapeake; and his brothers, Jerry L. Gwaltney (Gayle) of Penhook, VA and Gerald T. Gwaltney (Cookie) of Suffolk, VA. He is also survived by seven nieces and nephews; eleven great nieces and nephews and many beloved cousins and good friends.
