She was predeceased by: her husband John "Jack" Wheelbarger; her parents, Earna Marslender and Eunice Gibbs Marslender; and her daughter Sharon Wheelbarger Carey. She is survived by: her sons, Richy Wheelbarger and Drew Wheelbarger (Christie); her grandchildren, Brandon Carey (Hannah), Seth Wheelbarger (AnMarie), Ella Wheelbarger, Haley Wheelbarger and Summer Wheelbarger; and her daughter Janet Martin Kodmon.
In lieu of flowers, LaVerne requested that memorial donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, reflecting her lifelong dedication to helping others.
