He was predeceased by: his father Lee Thomas Holmes; and his siblings, Manuel Holmes, Thomas Bryce Holmes, Willard Holmes, Hulin Holmes, Joseph "Bud" Holmes, Mildred H. Michael, Elizabeth H. Brown, Bettie "Tootsie" Neely and Eugenia "Pat" Hargrave.
He is survived by: his daughter Eugenia O. Burton of Virginia; his sister Gail Winton; and his sisters-in-law, Frances Holmes, Melvena R. Holmes and Annie Holmes. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
