She was predeceased by: her parents, Cassius Clay Cason and Alma Tate Cason; and her husband Alva O. "Bennie" Benson. She is survived by: her daughters, Deborah Sawyer (William, III) and Karen Barber (Hampton, Jr.); her grandchildren, Jennifer "Jenny" McPherson (Marc), John Sawyer (Michelle), Sarah Cain (Michael), Temple Johnson (Jeremy) and Hampton "Chase" Barber, III (Angela Cartwright); and her great grandchildren, Laura McPherson, Hannah Brightwell, Makayla McPherson, Eli Sawyer, Sabrina Massey, Royce Cain, Benson Cain and Seagen Brantley.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, Pavillion Fund, 2505 Mt. Pleasant Road, Chesapeake, VA 23322.
