Helen Louise Skinner Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Helen Louise Skinner (Chesapeake, Virginia), who passed away on December 15, 2020 at the age of 79. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Ulysses Bell and Irene Flora Bell; her brothers, Otis and Raymond Bell; her husband Melvin Leon Skinner, Sr.; her children, Michelle Renee, Melvin Leon Skinner, Jr., Helen, Sharon (Dale) of Chesapeake, Terrance of Chesapeake and Jeffrey (Rachel) of Chesapeake; her grandchildren, Amber, LaToya, Melvin Ill, Dale Clayvon, Alyssa Michelle, Maddisen, Anaiya, Amerah, Semahje and Dymond; her great grandchildren, Jamil, Dhante and DaytVon; her brother Lyman (Marcella) of Florida; her great-aunt Fannie Mae Flora Griffin of North Carolina; her sister-in-law Addie Mae Bell; and her close friend Mary Bright.

There will be limited seating at the funeral because of COVID restrictions.

For the past fifteen years, Helen supported the Estherine J. Harding Endowed Scholarship through program attendance and donations benefiting the students at Norfolk State University.
