James Edward leaves behind cherished memories for friends, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. James Edward’s life was marked by connections and experiences that touched those around him. Though he is no longer with us, the moments shared, the laughter, and the support he offered will continue to resonate. All who knew James Edward will carry forward his memory in their hearts.
He is survived by: his wife Mary; his children, Christian Burres (Heidi) and Ashley Whitesell (Kevin); and his grandsons, Jack and Grant Burres.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 7th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Resurrection Lutheran Church (916 Centerville Turnpike N, Chesapeake, VA 23320).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the James E. Burres Memorial Fund (https://www.tmcfunding.com), to continue Jim's legacy at Resurrection Lutheran Church, as well as the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, to continue the research of finding a cure for Leukemia & Lymphoma.
