He was predeceased by: his wife Iva Lee Vaughan Compton; and his parents, Virginia Mitchell Crews and James Orville Compton. He is survived by: his sons, Duane Philip (DeAnn), Darrell Edward (Sandra) and David Scott (Shelly); his grandchildren, Jason (Kate), Jacob, Samantha, Victoria (Scott), Grace Anne and MaryMichael; his great grandchildren, Claire, Haddie and Lily; and his siblings, Wyleen Boone of Asheboro and H. Ray Compton (Jean) of Norfolk.
Visitation was held on Friday, August 28th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Graham Funeral Home (1112 Kempsville Rd, Chesapeake, VA 23320). A funeral service was held on Saturday, August 29th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Colonial Baptist Church (2221 Centerville Turnpike, Virginia Beach, VA 23464).
The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers, a donation in Philip's honor be made to the American Cancer Society or Blood Cancer United (Formerly Leukemia and Lymphoma Society).
