He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Vaughn and Lizzie Vaughn; his brothers, William T. Vaughn and Paul A. Vaughn; and his wife Mattie Vaughn.

He is survived by: his friends, Elizabeth and Merle Rawls; his sister Nira Jones of Warner Robins, Georgia; his children, Diane Ivey Ellsworth (Gordon), Charles Ivey (Pam), Patricia Ivey Moss and Jim P. Vaughn, Jr. (Melinda); his grandchildren, Crystal, Buddy, Jamey, Crawford, Karyn, Lauren and Dustyn; and his great grandchildren, Addison, Jake, Jaiden, Andrea, Jack, Kam, Quinn, Waylan, Jayci, Raylan and Liam.
