She is survived by: her son Michael P. Vastano of Chesapeake, VA; her grandchildren, Patrick Vastano (Santanna) of Norfolk, VA and Megan Knice (Matthew) of Oklahoma; and her great grandchild Maverick Knice.
A funeral Mass was held on Friday, August 28th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Church of the Ascension (4853 Princess Anne Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23462). A burial was held on Friday, August 28th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Forest Lawn Cemetery (8100 Granby St, Norfolk, VA 23505).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the local SPCA or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, causes that were close to Katherine's heart.
