It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Kathleen Gayle Smith Barefoot (Chesapeake, Virginia), who passed away on November 13, 2025, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Betty (Charles Smith) and Thelma (Jasper Barefoot); and her brother Bill Smith. She is survived by: her husband Ken Barefoot; her children, Kenny Jr. (Lisa Barefoot), Jason (Buffy Barefoot), Jenifer (Wayne Hixenbaugh) and Kati (Jeffrey Robins); and her grandchildren, Jackson, AllieRose, Kenny Jr., Lisa, Aaron, GeorgiaMae, Jason, Buffy, KenaRae, Kole, LaurelGrace, Jenifer, Wayne, Charley, MaggieLane, Kati and Jeffrey. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any gifts be directed to the Barefoot Kids new building fund, which will help continue her legacy of teaching children about the love of Jesus Christ through knowing.
