With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Lewis Ivan Barnum of Chesapeake, Virginia, born in Berwick, Pennsylvania, who passed away on November 3, 2022 at the age of 84. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Alma Pullen and Harold Barnum; his brothers, David Lee Barnum and Winston Caroll Barnum; and his sister-in-law Sue Barnum.
He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Jane Lessing Barnum; his brothers, Loren Jay Barnum (Eula), Rowland James Barnum and Dana Lee Barnum (Diana); his children, Dr. Rachel Irene Chastanet (Robert) and David Merrill Barnum; his grandsons, Daniel Joseph Chastanet, Dr. Timothy Robert Chastanet and John Desmond Chastanet; his nieces and nephews, Andrew Barnum (Rachel), Dan Barnum, David Luke Barnum (Sunny), Dawn Wright (Joseph), Deborah Barnum, Donna Bupp (Shawn), Laura Bonds (Thomas), Lisa Barnum and Lynda Gong (Jason); his great-nieces and great-nephews, Benjamin Barnum, Carson Bonds, Eliana Barnum, Felicity Gong, Genevieve Gong, Hannah Barnum, Jordan Wright, Katie Bupp, Kayla Barnum, Luke Barnum, Lillyana Wright, Rachel Bupp, Sarah Bupp, Shane Bonds and Sophiarose Wright; and his friend Lew.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lew Ivan Barnum Memorial Fund, to benefit the music ministry of Great Bridge Baptist Church.
