She was predeceased by: her parents, Beatrice Bazemore and James Waverly Bazemore. She is survived by: her husband Linwood "June Bug" Cherry, Jr.; her sons, Ivan and Carl; her siblings, Ruth Riley, Bessie Ruffin and Randolph Bazemore; her children, Teresa Vanhook, Sandy Cherry and Samuel Cherry; and her siblings, Mabel Askew (Roosevelt, Sr.) of Aulander, NC, Lorda Keemer (Earl) of Newport News, VA, Alma White of Portsmouth, VA, Eltine Hills (Ivory) of Hampton, VA and Paul Bazemore (Gloria) of Kelford, NC.. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Viewing was held on Thursday, September 17th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Cooke Brothers Funeral Chapel (1601 27th St, Newport News, VA 23607). A graveside service was held on Friday, September 18th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Hampton Memorial Gardens (155 Butler Farm Rd, Hampton, VA 23666).
