She was predeceased by: her parents, John Alexander Plaskett and Audrey Dolores Sheen-Plaskett; her husband Melvin Cotton Sr.; and her siblings, John Anthony Plaskett and Maria Plaskett of Indiana.
She is survived by: her children, Shawn Marie Cotton, Ebony Michelle Cotton and Dr. Melvin Cotton Jr. (Lakeesha); her grandchildren, Tymetria, Tyrone, Shanice, Quanté, Alexis, Yazmine, Melvin III, Keyana, Amani, Tyree and Caleb; and her siblings, Dr. Rochelle Jackson (John), Alena Plaskett, Gregory Plaskett (Lorrie) and Audrey D. Sheen-Plaskett. She is also survived by two nieces, five nephews.
During COVID-19 protocol she stayed connected virtually on Facebook Live earning the status of a Facebook Anniversary Member until her last service on January 15, 2023.
