She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Jeanette Spahn O'Brien and Joseph Vincent O'Brien; her brothers, Vincent and George; her husband William F. Smith (Bill); her daughters, Michelle Marie Brakke (Nate) and Kathryn Lynn Smith Simmons (Craig); her grandchildren, William, Theodore, Milly Brakke and Arthur Simmons; her pet Gracie; her family, Pat and Bill; and her caregivers, Donna and Martha.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM at the Foster Funeral Home (1926 High St, Portsmouth, VA 23704). A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Church of the Resurrection (3501 Cedar Ln, Portsmouth, VA 23703).

Family request donations be made to any Humane Society, Therapy Dogs International, or Guiding Eyes for the blind.
