He was predeceased by: his parents, Lafayette Johnson and Margaret Johnson; and his wife Gloria Cox Johnson. He is survived by: his sons, Thadeus LeeVoyne Johnson, Sr., Percy Aubrey Johnson, Jr. and Jeffrey Adam Johnson; his siblings, Lafayette A. Johnson, Jr. (Janet), Carl V. Johnson (Susan), Eric P. Johnson (Valerie) and Gloria J. Johnson (Melvin, Sr.); and his grandchildren, Eugene Ellis, Mo'nika Johnson, Thadeus Johnson, Jr. and Lydia Johnson. He is also survived by 23 great- grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
