He was predeceased by: his parents, Aubrey Derring and Ethel Derring; his wife Joanne Patterson Derring; and his son Richard Wayne Derring, Jr.. He is survived by: his brother Aubrey J. "Brunie" Derring, Jr.; and his sister-in-law Shirley Patterson Moore. He is also survived by many other family members, church family, and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 29th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Greenlawn Memorial Gardens (3920 Airline Blvd, Chesapeake, VA 23321).
