With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Sadie Smith Hughes of Chesapeake, Virginia, who passed away on November 24, 2022 at the age of 97. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Clifton Merle Smith and Bonnie Marie Sawyer of Elizabeth City, NC.; and her husband George Clayton "Chuck" Hughes. She is survived by: her sisters, Barbara Smith Edwards of Chesapeake, VA and Diane Belvin of Franklin, VA; her daughter Cindy Hughes Winecoff (Gip) of Chesapeake, VA; her grandchildren, Jennifer Lindsay Winecoff of Midway, GA and Alexander Clayton Winecoff (Cheyenne) of Chesapeake, VA; and her great grandchildren, Noah Weston Winecoff, Savannah Grace Flores and Charlotte Joy Flores of Midway, GA..

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
