She was predeceased by: her parents, Wallace Vaughan and Bettie Vaughan; her siblings, Wallace Vaughan Jr. and Claire Knowles; and her significant other William Faville.

She is survived by: her sister Deborah; her brother-in-law David; her siblings, Barbara Lloyd and John Vaughan; her children, Jim (Kassy Bander), Holly (Jim Marx), Jen (Jon Murphey), Michael (Tricia Bander), Scott (Jessica Bander), Amy (David Bowden) and Lori Bryant; and her grandchildren, Tyler, Heather, Kylie, Lauren, Eric, Cole, Aiden, Anthony, Chloe, Kennedy, Ethan and Ava.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Gail Parkins Ovarian Cancer Research at Duke University or to Hope for Life Rescue in Virginia Beach.
