He is survived by: his wife Mary Patricia Alvey; his daughters, Julie Omer Carey (Al) and Amy Lynne Omer (Rich Fredericks); his grandchildren, Andrew, Lauren, Benjamin and Samuel; his sister Mary Compton Layne (Boo); and his brother-in-law William T. Layne. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
