He was predeceased by: his parents, Gethro Hayes and Repsie Coats Hayes; and his wife Rita Henrietta Schoppler Hayes. He is survived by: his children, Thomas G. "Tom" Hayes of Key Largo, FL and Teresa H. Watson (Pete) of Blackstone, VA; his grandchildren, Sara M. Cowan (Dan) and William "Rooster" Watson (Sam); and his great grandchildren, Sadie Rose, Ava Grace, William James, Colton Hayes and Emmie Mae.
