It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Vernell Lawson of Chesapeake, Virginia, who passed away on October 3, 2021, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Dorothy Boyd and Bennie Jones; her siblings, Carolyn Boyd and Floyd Jones (Buddy); and her daughter Sheila Woolard.

She is survived by: her children, Ketrina Jones, Patricia Amen (Ausura), Debbie Parker, Ricky Woolard (Felicia), Calvin Woolard, Edward Woolard, Robin Shepherd (Lloyd) and Donnell Woolard; her sister Brenda Boyd of Columbia Sc; her cousin Denise Jordan; her close friends, Dorothy Baldwin and Geraldine Wright; and also Nora Tate. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
