He was predeceased by: his parents, William Clyde Irving and Dorothy Midgett Irving; and his wife Beverly Parker Irving. He is survived by: his children, William Michael Irving (Lee), John Earl Irving (Donna) and Deborah Ann Fry (Chris); his grandchildren, William Aaron Irving (Jessica), Seth Michael Irving (Kendall), Madison Taylor Irving (Taylor), Parker Alan Clyde Irving and Mason Hampton Fry; his great grandchildren, Emma Grace Irving, Brynlee Elizabeth Irving, Isabella Heather Irving and William Ryder Irving; and his sister Susie Sawyer.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the William E. Irving Memorial Fund, to benefit the Khedive Shrine Temple Roadrunners.
