He is survived by: his wife Annette Holmes; his children, William Richard Holmes Jr. of Charleston and Cheryl Huotte (Frank) of Chesapeake, Virginia; his grandchildren, Susan Weldon of LaGrange, Georgia, Chelsea Ruby (Steve) of Charleston and Bailey Holmes of Charlottesville, Virginia; and his great grandchildren, Nikolas Weldon, Robert Holmes Ruby, Caroline Lee Ruby and Thomas William Ruby. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
