He was predeceased by : his parents, Levi Cockran and Rachel Johnson Cockran. He is survived by : his children, Kevin T. Cockran and Elena Cockran of New Orleans, LA; and his brother Jerry Cockran (Leslie) of Bedford, VA.

William worked as a traveling nurse and to many he was a hero having worked tirelessly during the Katrina aftermath in New Orleans and during the height of the covid epidemic.
