With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Eleanor Thompkins of Chester, Virginia, born in Hopewell, Virginia, who passed away on March 28, 2026 at the age of 89. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her husband Homer J. Thompkins, Jr.; her parents, Willie Robert Wheat, Sr. and Mary Martin Wheat Norman; and her siblings, Willie Robert Wheat, Jr., Leroy Wheat, Leola Wheat Jones and Elizabeth Wheat Johnson.

She is survived by: her children, Derek Thompkins of Newington, Krystal Thompkins of Chester, Virginia and Karrol Bates (Robert) of Petersburg, Virginia.; her grandchildren, Keenan Wittman of New Orleans, Louisiana, Cameryn and Kenya Bates of Petersburg, Virginia.; her sister-in-law Joyce Medley of Amelia, Virginia; her nephews, Leonard Medley III of Smyrna and Eric Medley, Sr. (Janiel) of Amelia, Virginia; her niece Michelle Medley of Richmond, Virginia; her great-nieces and great-nephews, Eric D. Medley of Stafford, Jalen Medley of Amelia, Jacobi Medley of Richmond, Leonard Medley IV of Smyrna, Georgia, Karla Koehl (David) of Bethlehem, Lola Cobb (Jarrel) of Suwanee, Janiya and Alana Medley of Amelia, Virginia; Alexandria, Taylor Koehl of Fort Worth and Ava Cobb of Suwanee, Georgia. She is also survived by cousins and dear friends.
