He was predeceased by: his wife Sally Ford Askew; his mother Dora Lee Dunivan Askew; his siblings, Bertha Burnside, Elizabeth Luck, Louise Motley, Silas Joe Askew, Eugene Askew, Floyd Ray Askew and Thomas Askew; his son Clifford S. Askew; his son-in-law Gary D. Bryant Sr.; and his stepson Kenneth Stanley.
He is survived by: his children, Rita Walker (Allie), Rhonda Lowry (Mike), Wayne Askew (Carolyn), Lynn Bryant (Jay) and Michael Stanley (Lisa). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
