It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Bobby Joe Powell Sr. of Chesterfield, Virginia, who passed away on September 27, 2025, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde William Powell and Veria Mae Powell; his wife Mary Elena Powell; his children, Jimmy Ray, Laura Lisa Powell and Toniette Elane; and his siblings, Carl Monroe Powell, Ronnie Dean Powell, Brenda Faye Mathews and Gwendolyn Mae Harrison.
He is survived by: his sons, Bobby Joe Powell, Jr. and John David Fort; his grandchildren, William Michael Powell, Bobby "B. J." Joe Powell, III, Tabitha Elane Webster and Serena Rayne Camlibel; his great grandchildren, William Micahael Powell and Andrew Issac Powell; and his siblings, Clyde "Bubber" William Powell Jr., Lary James Powell, Michael Robert Powell and Linda Kay Coy. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service (6500 Iron Bridge Rd, Richmond, VA 23234).
