She was predeceased by: her parents, William Lester Mills, Sr. and Sarah Alice Mills; her husband Henry Clay Carter; her son Thomas Edwin Carter; her children-in-law, Diane Smith Carter and Robert Daniel Harrell, Sr.; her grandson Christopher Michael Harrell, Sr.; and her siblings, Lucille Mills, Georgie Sutphin, Mildred Millis, Billy Mills and Betty Marshpund.
She is survived by: her children, William Clay Carter and Katherine Rose Harrell; her grandchildren, Robert Daniel Harrell, Jr., Tanja Harrell Penny (Douglas), Jason Scott Carter, Mark Aaron Carter and Steven Clay Carter (Ashley); her great grandchildren, Christopher, Bridgette, Abigail, Alexis, Celeste, Addison, Ava, Avery and Emma; her great great grandchildren, Brantley, Alora, Kaidyn, Carson and Michael; and her brother Charles Ray Mills (Kitty). She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
