We announce the death of Irvin Wayne Phillips of Christiansburg, Virginia, who passed away on October 3, 2026, at the age of 65. He was loved and cherished by many people including: parents: Clarence Rollie Phillips and Nadine Elizabeth Perdue; wife: Karen Stewart Phillips; daughter: Chasity Phillips Akers; son: Christopher Sweeney (Heather); sisters: Debra Ellen Wood (Woody) and Regina Phillips Alley (Kevin); brothers: Rollie Clarence Phillips Jr. (Janet); sister-in-law: Melissa Kniskern (Kirk); grandchildren: Hailey Correll, Emma Christian, Cheyenne Sweeney, and Owen Sweeney; nieces and nephews: Charlene Carpenter (Nick), Tyler Phillips, Carter Alley (Tiffany), Logan Alley, Brandon Spradlin (Shelly), and Jessica Kniskern; other: Wayne Scott and Joe Gorskey; and many great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 7th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Horne Funeral Home (1300 N Franklin St, Christiansburg, VA 24073). A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, October 7th 2026 at 6:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Halls United Methodist Church (4302 N Fork Rd, Elliston, VA 24087).
