He is survived by: his wife Karen Kimbrell Birchfield; his son Matthew Boyd Birchfield (Katherine Kraker Birchfield); his grandchildren, Erin Marie Birchfield, Nathaniel Dale Birchfield and Amanda Kraker Chrisley; and his siblings, Constance'Connie'Howard, Wilburn'Wig'Birchfield, Gloria Birchfield Walton, Janice Birchfield Hollandsworth, Verlin Lee Birchfield, Homer'Rocky'Birchfield and Paul Franklin Birchfield. He is also survived by 23 nieces and nephews.
