He was predeceased by : his parents, Robert Lee and Viola Catherine Sheffer (Michael); and his siblings, Nancy Redifer, Patsy Sheffer, Betty Huffman and Dave Sheffer.

He is survived by : his partner Pat Wimer; his children, Dee Dee McCray and Rob Sheffer; his sisters, Geraldine Cook, Rita Yorro and Dolly Long; his grandchildren, Dillon McCray, Brittany Leslie, Melanie Miller and Hayden Morris; and his nieces and nephews, Johnny Wimer and Chrissy Sundell. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
