He was predeceased by: his parents, Kermitt Elwood Lugar and Hattie Belle Vance Lugar; his sister Irene "Sissy" Gray; and his close friends, Denny Pence and Rick Umberger.
He is survived by: his wife Melanie "Gaye" Caldwell Lugar of Covington; his daughter Angela Lugar of Roanoke; his adoptive daughter JoJo Tong of Covington; his siblings, Carolyn Belle Lugar of Covington, Darrell Lugar of Covington and Kermitt Lugar, Jr. of Covington; his granddaughter Jessica Steinruck; his pets, Lillie, Foots and Peeney; and his close friend Josh Depriest. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
