He is survived by: his wife Betty Lou Overton Mitchell of Chesapeake; his children, Sharon Leigh Mitchell of Norfolk, Michael Patrick Mitchell (Wanda) of Marion, Richard Warren Mitchell of Louisiana, Robert Trajan Mitchell of Virginia Beach and Darren Keith Mitchell of Grafton, WI; his sister Sue Viers (John) of Hersey, MI; his half-sisters, Marianne Marmion of Michigan and Jodi Roberts of Michigan; and his stepchildren, Anthony Mark Watts (Kim) of Henrico, NC, Gary Wayne Watts (Debbie) of Italy, Kristi Lynn Myers (Patrick) of Virginia and Gregory Kyle Watts (Hunter) of Virginia Beach. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren; six step grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 25th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Chapel of Nicely Funeral Home (405 Alleghany St, Clifton Forge, VA 24422). A funeral service was held on Thursday, September 25th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
