It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Edgar Gaines (Clifton Forge, Virginia), born in Baltimore, Maryland, who passed away on September 15, 2022, at the age of 54, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his father Edgar Raymond Hoke; his former wife Marty Gaines; his mother-in-law Brenda Lee Downey; and his son-in-law Mario Diaz, Sr.. He is survived by: his wife Charlene Downey Gaines of Selma; his children, Kimberly Dawn Blankenship of West Virginia, Chasity Lynn Gaines of Pennsylvania and Edgar Randolph Gaines, Jr. of Florida; his stepchildren, Kimberly Diaz of Florida and Jordan Downey of Selma; his siblings, Christine Powers of Maryland and Mark Hoke of Winchester; his father-in-law Bobby Gene Downey of Selma; his siblings-in-law, Tammy Downey of Selma and Jeff Downey of Warm Springs; his stepgrandchildren, Richelle Downey and Mario Diaz, Jr.; and his close friends, Dale and Cindy Simmons. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
