He is survived by: his siblings, Laurie Dawson (Freddie) of Clifton Forge and Raymond Heighter (Barbara JoAnn) of Clifton Forge; his sister-in-law Carrie Heighter of Clifton Forge; his cousin Diane Heighter of Covington; and his close friends, Jim, Joyce Ann Eller, Anna Davis, Joseph, Rose Trammel, Gilbert and Jeanette Davis. He is also survived by nieces, nephews.

“We are sorrow to hear of the passing of our friend and long-time neighbor (Erkey) Heighter. He was our neighbor on Pine Street Hill. When our family moved away he kept a watchful eye on our house and was always quick to give us a phone call when he thought something needed taking care of. He also made a point of visiting us when we were in town and sharing a meal with us. He will be sorely missed. Our prayers are with you. The Toliver family (Arnita, Irma, Sandra, Ardelia and Madie)”
