He was predeceased by: his parents, Judge Emory Newberry and Barbara Sue Brooks Newberry; and his sister Benita Leigh. He is survived by: his brother Phillip Daniel Newberry (Melissa); his nieces, Kelsey Newberry Cash, Heather Andrews (Thomas) and Cheylane Moore (Kyle); his uncle Phillip Brooks; his aunt Mary Bowyer; and his close friend David Putnam. He is also survived by ten great nieces and nephews.
