He is survived by: his wife Cindy Anderson Tharpe of Eagle Rock; his children, Wade Tharpe (Sheila) of Vinton, Jamie Tharpe (Meghan) of Troutville and April Fridley (Joe) of Salem; his stepson Joshua Haynes (Shannon) of Eagle Rock; his sister Joyce Broy of Middletown; his siblings-in-law, Pat Tharpe of Strausburg and Chriss Anderson (Anita) of Buchanan; and his grandchildren, Gary Tharpe (Casey), Brock Tharpe (Cait), Brittani Tharpe, Jacob Fridley (Megan), Andrew Fridley (Jillian), Chase Haynes (Sarah), Lexie Brown (Jacob) and Skylur Haynes. He is also survived by great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to The American Cancer Society.
