He was predeceased by: his parents, Lankford Putnam and Lovejoy Johnson Putnam; and his brothers, Bob Putnam, Harry Putnam and Buck Putnam.
He is survived by: his wife Sally Pruett Putnam of Low Moor; his daughters, Christy Nichols (Joel) of Roanoke and Deirdre Lee (Rob) of Daleville; his sisters, Betty Jo Brown (Robert) of Low Moor and Carolyn Morris (John) of Lexington; his grandchildren, Sally Lauren Nichols (Darik Eaton), Merritt Nichols (Siobhan), Mary Kellen Moore (Mitch), Brandon Lee (Mandy) and Quincy Edwards (Mitchell); and his great grandchildren, Greyson Eaton, Addison Eaton, Hudson Eaton, Poppy Nichols, Keely Nichols, Charlotte Lee, Jack Lee, Ellie Lee, Georgia Edwards and Easton Edwards. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 29th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Nicely Funeral Home (405 Alleghany St, Clifton Forge, VA 24422).
The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Attn: Office of Development; 2900 Rocky Point Dr, Tampa, FL 33607.
