He was predeceased by: his daughter Paula Ranee Davis; his grandson Danny Tanner Odle; his parents, Burley Taft Hale and Clercie Stanley Hale; and his sisters, Jerri Kenny, Melva Jean and Healthy Vionna.
He is survived by: his significant other Opele Stidham Hale; his son Cossie Hale Jr. (Mindy); his grandchildren, Lexi McCaskill (Kodie), Mia Adams (Cody), Kaylee Hale (Zach Smith), Joshua Hale, Emily Hale and Destiny Stover; his great grandchildren, Weston, Briella, Tanner, Easton, Everleigh, Bentley and Maverick; and his siblings, Buck Hale (Nina), Dallas Hale, Thurman Hale (Jean), Christa Childress and Elizabeth Marshall (Rodney).
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Sturgill Funeral Home (310 6th St NW, Coeburn, VA 24230). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel (310 6th St NW, Coeburn, VA 24230). A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 at the Maple Grove Cemetery.
