He is survived by: his wife Lib; his daughters, Donna Yates of Coeburn and Debbie Yates (Terry) of Coeburn; and his granddaughters, Jessica Sykes Baldwin (Sonny) of Coeburn and Caitlyn Yates of Abingdon.
Visitation was held on Thursday, May 14th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Sturgill Funeral Home (310 6th St NW, Coeburn, VA 24230). A funeral service was held on Thursday, May 14th 2026 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A procession was held on Friday, May 15th 2026 at 10:00 AM. A graveside service was held on Friday, May 15th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Yates Family Cemetery.
