He was predeceased by: his parents, James Lee Dean and Virginia Typton Dean; his son John Brian Dean; and his brothers, Arthur Dean and Jimmy Dean.

He is survived by: his daughters, Tracy Dean Cifers, Amy Dean Elliott, Laurel and Willow Elliott. He is also survived by cousins, nieces, and nephews.
