He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Ted L., Emma Jean Boyd, Cecil A. and Juanita N. Dorton; and his father-in-law Khoa Tan Nguyen.

He is survived by: his parents, Cecil Abe "Joe" Jr. and Judy Ann Boyd Dorton; his wife Kathy "Keiu" Nguyen Dorton; his daughters, Isabella Nguyen Dorton and Lily Nguyen Dorton; his mother-in-law Kiem Thi Nguyen; his sister Brandi; his brother-in-law Brian J. Baker; his niece Olivia Nicole Baker; and his uncle Dan "Cokey" Dorton (Audrey).
