He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Mitchell and Cosie Mitchell; and his siblings, Thurman Mitchell and Patricia Mitchell. He is survived by: his wife Belinda Kraatz Mitchell; his sisters, Connie Viar (Frankie Viar) and Judy McVey (Wayne McVey); his daughters, Shannon Davis and Christie Pollard; his grandchildren, Samantha Pollard, Miranda Mitchell, Casey Davis, Christian Fonseca, Joseth Pollard and Cosie Mitchell; and his great grandchildren, Malik Christian, Trinity Christian and Brianua Fitch. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

Visitation was held on Thursday, May 14th 2026 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service (11351 Leesville Rd, Huddleston, VA 24104). A funeral service was held on Thursday, May 14th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Updike Funeral Chapel (11351 Leesville Rd, Huddleston, VA 24104). A burial was held on Thursday, May 14th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Morgans Baptist Church Cemetery (2086 Morgans Church Rd, Bedford, VA 24523).
