With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Maxine Sowell Elder of Concord, Virginia, born in Lynchburg, Virginia, who passed away on March 15, 2024 at the age of 78. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by : her husband John F. Elder; and her parents, Maxwell B. Sowell and Doris Clark Sowell. She is survived by : her sons, Matthew Morris of Concord, Chris Morris (Angie Crawley) of Concord and Mark "Andy" Morris (Melissa Cardoza) of Lynchburg; her grandchildren, Lexi Morris (Owen Stone), Conner Morris, Maeve Cardoza-Morris and Maggie Cardoza-Morris; her brother Randall C. Sowell of Madison Heights; and her daughters-in-law, Stephanie Williams of Rustburg, Ashley Gray of Mineral and Emily Morris of Lynchburg.
