He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis W. Wakefield and Mary Ann Wakefield (Stepp); and his wife Linda Smith Wakefield. He is survived by: his children, Melanie Rickett (Gary) of Covington and Michael Wakefield (Cindy) of Zion Crossroads; his grandchildren, Brittany Johnson (Andrew), Katie Brigham (Alex), Alexandra Wakefield, Lilly Wakefield, McKaiya Wakefield and Nathan Shemanski; his great grandchildren, Tanner Johnson and Nathanael Brigham; and his sister-in-law Pat Banadyga. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Temple Baptist Church Building Fund, 300 Stratton Street, Covington, VA 24426.
