He was predeceased by : his wife Ruth Pierce Rider; his parents, Oscar Rider and Almedia Dilley Rider; his children, Lynn Rider and Linda Stearrett Richmond; and his siblings, Winters Rider, Clemmit Armentrout, Lucy Rider, Nan Callan, Aubrey Rider, Walter Rider and Sylvia Rider.
He is survived by : his granddaughter Tracy Rider; his great grandchildren, Elizabeth Love, Vernon Love, Jr. and Helen Schrenk; and his siblings, Bertie Smith, Marie Karnes and Shelby Spahn. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, May 15th 2024 from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at the Loving Funeral Home (309 Lacks Ave, Covington, VA 24426). A funeral service was held on Thursday, May 16th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Loving Funeral Home (309 Lacks Ave, Covington, VA 24426).
