It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mayme Louise Smith of Covington, Virginia, who passed away on February 23, 2023, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Ethel "Louise" Burkholder Failes Doig and Frank Failes, Jr. (Shirley). She is survived by: her children, David Allen Sawyer of Ohio and Jeri Lynn Hunnell (Daniel) of South Carolina; her grandchildren, Heather Tidwell, Breanna Schaub (Matthew), Corbin Salyer and Daron Hunnell; and her siblings, Frank Failes (Glenda) of North Carolina, Malcolm "Britt" Failes (Laura) of Florida, Robert "Allen" Failes of Ohio, Roberta "Ann" George (Dave) of Delaware, Joni Graham (Ron) of Ohio and Tami Hawkins (Mark) of Ohio. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
